Update

It's been a long time since I've written anything.  I thought I'd enjoy blogging a lot and that I'd write more often, but I don't.  Well, I don't write more often.  I do for the most part enjoy blogging.  Except when I feel like I have nothing to write.

I just finished up a 2 week subbing job for a 5th grade teacher, which went pretty well.  It was the first subbing that I have done this whole year, except for one day subbing for Kindergarten teacher about a week before the 2 week job.  I am now once again proficient in my state capitals, as that's one of the things we worked on a lot in the two weeks I was at the school with the 5th graders.  It came in really handy tonight when one of the Young Women wanted me to take a quiz for some project she was doing for one of her classes and most of it was on state capitals.  I missed two questions.  The first was "How many states are in the Mountain Time Zone?"  I still don't know what the correct answer is on that, but the incorrect answer is 6.  The second was how many states start with the letter M?  I got Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, Montana, Missouri, Mississippi, Massachusetts...but I forgot Maryland.

Since I spent 2 weeks at the school subbing, I seem to have become one of the favorite subs again.  There are only two weeks left, and I've been asked to sub for 3 different people.  Today I subbed for the school librarian, in fact.

Hmm.  Hmm.  Hmm.  What to do?  Since teachers are seeming to call me again I wonder: do I want to get back into subbing?  So far things have gone well enough that I'm ok with doing it a little bit, but I am just not sure that I want to become a subaholic.  Well, since there are only 2 weeks left in school I guess I'll have 3 months to think about it before I really have to decide!

Working pretty much full time for 2 weeks straight was tough.  I told Craig at one point, "I'm a much better full time mom than I am full time worker."  There's no time for STUFF when you work full time.  No time for grocery store, or registering cars, or running errands for Craig, or doctor's appointments, or calling doctor's offices to get the notes to file an AFLAC claim, (or even filing that claim itself!) or any one of the thousand little things I seem to do throughout the week.  As much as sometimes I wonder if I'd like a break from all those little chores and responsibilities, after a 2 week period where I was forced to take a total break from them because I had no time for them, I missed being able to do them.

You'll note that I said "registering cars" in the above paragraph.  That's because Melanie now has her own car.  And, as lovely as it will be for her, it's a bit melancholy for me, because that means I don't have to be the one to go get her whenever she's coming home.  That ride home with Melanie was always one of my favorite things, as we cranked up the music and sang and sang and sang.  How will I meet her roommates or see her apartment now?  I'm feeling a little lost.

Well, I think that's all for now.  Consider yourself somewhat updated.

  1. You could still come up and see my apartment sometime Mom. In fact, if you really want I'll let you come pick me up sometime when I'm coming home ;)

  2. Even though Heather had a car when she was up at USU, I still went up for lunch/shopping dates every now and then. A daughter always needs some Mom time once in a while!
