If you went to my mom's house, you would find about 52 million frogs. Frog statues, frog toys, frog pictures and pillows and paraphenalia. Unlike my mom, though, I am not really a collector in general, so I am finding this subject a little hard...
I once collected shells and sand from beaches we'd been to and displayed them in my "beachy bedroom", but then I changed the decor scheme, and I haven't visited a beach in a few years, so I don't know that I'd say I collect those things anymore.
Oooh, I guess I might say that I collect Nativity scenes. That's my favorite Christmas decoration, and I have a few, but nothing along the lines of my mom's frog collection. And since I only see that collection once a year sometimes I forget about it.
Being somewhat of a social critter, maybe one thing I collect is friends. Having just moved I'm finding it fun to add to my "collection". I have loved my new neighborhood and the people in it, and I'm enjoying getting to know them.
It's fun to find out who they are and what their lives are all about. It's fun to make connections with them...Ooh, your sister was my back door neighbor at my old house?...Oh, you used to live here, do you know this family?...You grew up there, do you know my college roommate who grew up there too?...Hey, you have a son that was friends with my daughter in High School!...and on and on.
It's fun to get to know their quirks, interests, and talents (neighborhood firework setter-offer...Our own local Bill Nye the Science Guy...The couple who seems nearly identical to Craig and I...the humanitarian aid superstar lady) and I am thankful for the chance to get to know them all!
